The Importance of Alumni Participation
How can Alumni get involved with the SLC 2012?
There are many ways to get involved with the SLC 2012:
1) Become a Workshop Presenter
You, as an Alumni are a wealth of knowledge. Share your evolution, expertise, and experience by crafting workshops for a wide variety of topics and present to the emerging leaders of UBC and British Columbia. Please consult the Workshop Presenter Guide for tips on how to put together an application.
The deadline to present a workshop is now closed. If you are still interested, please contact anushka@slc.ubc.ca to see if an exception should be made.
2) Give to Passions into Actions: The Student Leadership Conference Fund
All gifts will graciously be put towards the overall program cost and help to ensure we can keep delegate registration affordable for our student leaders. Former SLC delegates will be contacted by the UBC Development Office during December, or visit the UBC Development site.
*tax receipts will be provided
3) Participate as an Alumni Delegate
Come to the SLC 2012 to meet outstanding young leaders at UBC and in British Columbia. Experience the SLC first hand and participate by attending the Opening and Closing Keynote sessions (keynote speakers to be announced), hear the stories of our Feature Presenters, and enjoy each opportunity the SLC has to offer.
Registration has not yet opened for this year’s conference. Please check back in the middle of November.
4) Be a Highlighted Project’s feedback panelist
Join other alumni and industry experts as you provide feedback for UBC student initiatives. Alumni feedback and expertise will help students push initiatives that will impact the UBC community and beyond.
To get involved with the highlighted projects, please email danna.barata@slc.ubc.ca.
5) Collaborate with students on the SLC Case Study
Collaborate with senior level students on developing a case study that will provide feedback on UBC’s Strategic Plan, “Place and Promise.” Use your unique perspective of UBC to help create a dialogue that will contribute to the short and long term goals of UBC.
To get involved with the case study project, please email dylan.denault@slc.ubc.ca.
If you have any questions about the alumni participation please feel free to contact the alumni coordinator, Dylan Denault at dylan.denault@slc.ubc.ca.
