What is your goal for the 2013 conference?
For me, the SLC has always been an excellent outlet for students to expand their horizons and grow, both personally and professionally. It’s my goal for all the delegates this year to take away something meaningful from each session that they participate in, as well as the interactions that they have throughout the day.

Why did you join the SLC Planning Committee?
I’m personally and professionally interested in helping young people think big, discover their passion, and figure out how they’re going to tackle one of the many challenges our world faces. I think initiatives like the SLC are a fantastic opportunity for students to achieve these goals.

What is your goal for the 2013 conference?
My goal for the SLC 2013 is to have each and every delegate leave the conference with the empowerment to follow through on goals and ideas that emerged during their conference experience. I want delegates to leave with a commitment to explore their own capabilities and passions, and with connections to help them along the way. I also want every delegate to have a good ol’ time hanging out with 1000+ other student leaders on January 12, 2013!

Why did you join the SLC Planning Committee?
In my first year, I attended the Student Leadership Conference just for kicks and was absolutely blown away by it! Coming in with a very narrow frame of mind, the conference taught me a very important life lesson amongst many others. This lesson is simple and straightforward: university life is not about grades and is not defined by numbers; instead, it is defined by the people you meet and the connections you make. I absolutely LOVE the SLC and want to contribute to its awesomeness!

What is your goal for the 2013 conference?
The SLC is a unique UBC experience as the one day of the year where both current and emerging leaders from all across campus come together. My goal for the 2013 conference is to recognize exceptional leaders from all corners of our diverse campus, from Greek life to RezLife and beyond. It is my hope that through showcasing these individuals and their accomplishments, the delegates will be inspired and will go on to create their own positive change throughout UBC, Vancouver and the world.

What is your goal for the 2013 conference?
My goal is for each and every delegate; whether in high school, a third time delegate or an alumni to be able to take something unique and valuable from the day. As the concurrent programs director I have an amazing oppurtunity to provide delegates with different programs throughout the day. With my goal and this oppurtunity I want to inspire delegates to take what they learned and apply it to their leadership journey to bring the 2013 SLC past a one day experience.

What is your goal for the 2013 conference?
My goal for the 2013 conference is to develop the Highlighted Projects components to focus on what happens after the conference and the empowerment of student initiatives. Through the introduction of new elements and a focus on collaboration, I hope to create something that goes far beyond the scope of a one day conference, and can be the spark that enables delegates to pursue their passion.

What is your goal for the 2013 conference?
My goal for the 2013 Student Leadership Conference is that each delegate leaves the day feeling a little more inspired, invested in their future, and impassioned. I really want to do my part on the planning committee to broaden the types of experiences available to the delegates attending the conference. If every person who attends the 2013 SLC leaves having personally related to the conference in some way, I think we will have been successful in accomplishing that goal.

Why did you join the SLC Planning Committee?
After getting involved in as much as the hours in a day will let me, I’ve managed to be apart of various groups and meet many other pretty fantastic student leaders. I believe that this campus really takes the 4 or 5(or 6…or 7..) university years and makes them so much more than a degree; that thanks to all the student leaders, the university experience is more than what happens in the classroom. That’s why I joined the SLC – the conference really pushes everyone and makes a difference!

I am excited to work with the rest of the SLC planning committee to bring to you the best SLC yet!

What is your goal for the 2013 conference?
My goal for the 2013 conference is to establish a sense of belief within each delegate before, during and after the conference. Most often, delegates come to the conference in hopes of being inspired by speakers, workshops, other delegates – just anything and anyone at the conference, really. However, it doesn’t end at being just inspired. There’s also the fundamental stage of truly believing in yourself in order to achieve your goals, dreams, and more. Believe.

What does leadership mean to you?
Leadership to me is being the best and most authentic self you can possibly be, in any situation. When I see someone who is totally passionate in what they do, and looks at problems as new challenges to tackle head-on, I’m always inspired to apply the same passion and point of view myself. To quote Robin Sharma, “You can really lead without a title.”

What does leadership mean to you?
Leadership is waking up knowing that you are doing exactly what you’re passionate about, or well on your way to discovering it, and are willing to let others in on the wild ride that is your leadership journey. Leaders are constantly learning, adapting to the flux and flow of life, and aware that every success and every challenge is an opportunity to improve, teach and set a positive example.
